The end of an era...

So, as I pack up my belongings, I am moving on.  It's the end of an era.  I'm starting fresh.  New places, new things, and yes, new website!  I'm moving my blog over to my new website: http://sarahbarberdesign.com.  My new site won't let me import my old blog and pics, but I think that's a good thing.  It's like wiping the slate clean.  If you ever want to see the old Sarah, just come back here, but from here on out, new posts and artwork will be on my new website.

Are you curious as to what I'll be up to?  You'll have to go to my new site and check it out.  Lot's of ideas and new prospects are on the horizon.  You'll have to be patient, as new things take time, but I promise it will be worth it.  So for now, I wish you all goodbye on Blogger....but to see new pages, artwork, and maybe some new digi creations, follow me to my new home.

Much love to you all...

29 Faces | 22 | 23 | BOD {Week 22}

Lot's more to share.  It's been a nice peaceful weekend here.  No kids, just quiet time with myself to reflect.  (And clean.)  I've finished two more portraits and last week's Book of Days spread is ready to share.  Here we go.

29 Faces | 22 | I took this image from a nail advertisement.  I loved the contrast of the black and white.  When I was done drawing her though, I though she needed some color.  So I built a background around her.  Supplies used: Portrait oil pastels, spray paint by Tulip, and a F pencil and a 8B pencil.

29 Faces | 23 | This was just a simple sketch from an ad, and then I added watercolor in a messy sort of fashion, just to get the impression of her.  Supplies used: washi tape, watercolor, inktense pencils, white acrylic paint, hb pencil, and white gel pen.

BOD | Week 22 | I started this on Monday while in bed (not feeling well).  I took only my Promarkers, black pen, white gel pen, and a pencil with me.  The rest of it was done throughout the week with lots of acrylic stamps by Tim Holtz.

29 Faces 19 | 20 | 21

You may have noticed that I keep changing my blog around.  I'm just playing with it.  I am working behind the scenes on a new website for myself, so look for that in the coming weeks.

I have been doing faces, maybe not as diligently as I was at the start of the month, but I'm still hanging on.  I've got three new ones to share with you today.  It's been kind of fun coming up with new techniques and trying new things with my portraits.  All three of these are completely different.  Take a look.

29 Faces | 19 | This one was a straight up sketch from a fashion image.  I used graphite and ProMarkers (on the face) and a little bit of charcoal.

29 Faces | 20 | If any of you have been following me for a while, you'll recognize this lady.  I used her in a digi scrap kit a while back.  She's a drawing I did of a tattoo by Eric Lovino.  I wanted to play with the background and try a new technique, using gesso to make a three dimensional texture with a stencil.  It turned out so cool!  Anyway, supplies used are as follows: gesso, stencil, magazine strips, washi tape, Micron black pens, markers by FaberCastell

29 Faces | 21 | This is my version of my "Green Girl", inspired by images of the Green Man.  I had fun once again with the background and some of my stencils.  I used ink this time and layered them up.  There's also a text stamp in there by Hero Arts.  The rest is acrylic paint and Inktense pencils.
That's it for now.  I'll wrap up my Book of Days for the week and share tomorrow.

29 Faces | 18

So last night, while watching Medium, I got the idea to do something with "time".  I wanted to portray that time is precious and it doesn't stop for anyone.  I also did my first side view portrait.  I don't really like the way it came out, but I'll keep practicing.

29 Faces | 18 | acrylic paint, glaze medium, inktense pencils, graphite pencil, micron black pen, crackle gloss medium.

29 Faces | 17 | and BOD's week 20

I've been busy, helping my parents get settled into their new home and preparing to move in with them.  Lots to do and not so much time to do it in.  Oy.  BUT, you know me, nothing will keep me from my art.  So I've only gotten one more face done (getting a little behind), but it's hard to create when it's so bloody hot!  New York in the Spring and it's 80+ degrees outside.  But, I've also got my Book of Days from last week ready to share with you.  I LOVE the colors in this one.  Thanks for looking!

29 Faces | 17 | Believe it or not, this was inspired by a photograph of Angelica Houston.  She's got such strong features, I just couldn't help myself.  This is also a first for me with the hand.  I'm slowly breaking out of the safety of just the face.  My son thought I should go dark with this one, so I did.  I hardly ever use a dark violet, so that's the color I chose.  Materials are: India ink by Bombay, acrylic paints by Grumbacher and Liquitex, and graphite pencils.

BOD | Week 20 | I used fun colors and washi tape!  The large flower is a stamp and the circles are done with India ink.  This weeks spread was more about just the aspects of the day that inspired me, not true journaling.  Fun, fun, fun!
