Art Journal | Out of Control

The beautiful thing about an art journal, is that you get to express everything you are feeling, even if it is not so happy.  And that opportunity presented itself last night.  I've been going through a rough time and found myself journaling about it.  Times like these, doing something like this really helps the soul.  Through this creation and a letter I wrote later, I was able to gain perspective and start to feel better.  So, what are you feeling?  It's okay to be sad, mad, upset, angry, frustrated.  Share it!  These are often the most powerful pages in your art journal.

Murtle the Turtle? FREEBIE

I'm working on a kit for little boys and found Tarrah's Yurtle the Turtle book and used it for inspiration.  I drew a bunch of my own Dr. Seuss inspired characters, but this was my first and I thought I'd give it away for free!  I was playing around with different effects, so you get 6 versions of Murtle the Turtle.  Enjoy!

This is no longer available.

Treasures found

I found this fabulous high chair on the curb and had to have it!  I don't have a baby, it's just, it was so freakin' cute and awesome.  I grabbed, cleaned it up, and slapped a coat of paint on it.  Now it's a cute kitchy addition to my kitchen.  I'm using it as a book shelf.  :)  I love discovering stuff like this.

Body of Art Challenge | The Power of Touch

I joined the Body of Art Challenge, an eight week challenge over at Scrapper's Online.  I decided after seeing the first challenge, that I would use this as an opportunity to create a photo book for Tom.

The first challenge is to scrap about touch.  I've written about the power of touch.  I found this fantastic photo of Tom holding Tarrah.  I'm so blessed that they love each other so much.

my little boy is growing up...

I was struck, this weekend, at how much my baby boy is growing up.  As he hefted the shovel to dig up some weeds for me, I couldn't believe how much he's grown!  It seems like just a few months ago, he was a little toddler, chasing me around, like his sister.  They sure grow up fast.

Amanda Taylor teamed up with the Queen of Quirk, Meredith Fenwick, and Amy Wolff to create this month's charity kit for Songbird Avenue.  The charity Amanda has chosen, as guest designer, is called Committed to Freedom.  For more details click here.  So I was lucky enough to work with this kit before it came out.  It's GORGEOUS!  Here's a LO I did of my honey bunny.

It's a Girl Thing

I got this fabulous template last night from Emily Powers by hanging with the girls from O'Scraps in their first Twitter Tuesday Chat.  Tarrah and I recently attended baby Cloe's second birthday party and had so much fun.  It was definately a girl thing.  So adorable to see girls of all ages playing together and just hanging around talking.
